My name is Athena but I’m not really a goddess. I’m one of four sisters, all but one named after Greek goddesses. There’s my oldest sister Selene, named after the goddess of the moon. She’s a hair stylist and does not howl at full moons. Then there’s my younger sister Maia, goddess of the fields and harvest, who is a yoga instructor and vegetarian, something the Greek side of my family just can’t wrap their minds around. And last is my sister Delphi who, because she was named after the Oracle of Delphi, believes she has the gift of foresight. In Greek tradition, she reads coffee grounds left at the bottom of a cup of Greek coffee. Sometimes she gets it right, which has only served to encourage her. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to intervene when she scared a customer with one of her predictions.
    I guess I should tell you that my family owns Spencer’s Garden Center, housed in a converted barn on the northern end of Greene Street in the coastal town of Sequoia, Michigan. I love working at Spencer’s because I love flowers and shrubs and trees of all kinds and I love helping people choose them.
    What I have lately discovered is that I also love solving puzzles, which has led me into some, shall we say, scary situations?  I’ve also got a keen sense of justice, and when I see someone suffering from injustice, I’m quick – some would say too quick – to jump in and help. This has led to the above scary situations. In fact, I’ve just extricated myself from one of those situations by the skin of my teeth, earning me the title, which was dubbed by the press, The Goddess of Greene Street.
    I can’t tell you more than that, but I promise that you’ll enjoy solving the puzzle with me, and even biting your nails as I get myself into quite a sticky wicket. You’ll also have some laughs along the way, as that’s part of my nature.
    I hope you’ll enjoy Statue of Limitations, the first of my adventures as The Goddess of Greene Street.
