My name is Merideth Deeds and I was born and raised in a small town in central Texas called San Saba. I am 33 years old and am married with an 8 year old son and a 2 year old daughter.
I have a bachelor’s from Texas A&M University and have a Master’s from Tarleton State University which focuses in English.
I currently teach high school English.

I am passionate about my family and my faith. I believe each and every one of us was put on Earth for a reason and to serve a purpose. I believe God has called me to write simply to inspire others who have lived a life of sin and are searching for answers and needing hop.
Lonely Road of Faith is me and my husband’s love story which also includes our broken roads that led us back to each other.
It is also features various other struggles of life that many can relate to such as single parenthood, co-dependency, and most of all, the pain and journey of loving an alcoholic or addict. Being raised in a small town it also gives the reader an idea of what it is like to grow up in a small community where everyone knows everyone.
I have no doubt that Lonely Road of Faith would be an awesome film. The name of the book comes from a Kid Rock song that my husband said was our song when we were teenagers which is entitled “Lonely Road of Faith.”
My favorite part of this novel is the real dialogue that I included. At times, when I reread it, my eyes tear up and it is as if I instantly time travel back to those beautiful moments I treasure so much with my grandmother who passed away in 2011.
I also love going back in time in my mind and remembering my now 38 year old husband as a 19 year old college kid and how simple life was back then, even though at the time, it felt so complicated.
Almost every character in the novel is based on a real person I know or is a part of my life.
Since I teach a lot of literature in the high school, I have the chance to read a lot of novels over and over again. I love Ernest Hemmingway and one of my favorite novels is The Great Gatsby. I actually make a reference to it in this novel.
This novel took me three years to write and it truly comes straight from my heart. It was as if the pages just wrote themselves and flowed out of me. My hope is that this novel will inspire you as it tells the story of what it is like to love an alcoholic and the overall journey of living a life full of sin, yet, finally finding your way back to your roots and to God.
It features raw and real testimony of both me and my husband and writing the story took a lot of courage, but I know it was what God wanted me to do.
I think that good writers make the reader search their own hearts and ponder on the deeper truths of life that are not always so simple or visible to the eye. I believe in angels and I believe in demons, and I believe that throughout our lifetime, we will always face a battle that we cannot even see going on around us.
If my novel was to become a film, the main character of Billy Denham would have to be some handsome, charismatic, rough, and tough actor. I really cannot even think of one off the top of my head.
The novel begins with my journey of single motherhood and having to move back to my small town. There, I am able to reconnect back with my family and begin the road to forgiveness and transforming my life as I put it back together piece by piece. And while back home, I run back into my high school boyfriend unaware of the demons that he is facing. It is a story of loss, love, bad times and good times. It is a good depiction of how our lives really are roller coasters full of life coming into the world and life leaving it; many highs and many lows.
Something interesting about me is that when I was 8 years old I believe I saw an angel in the house I grew up in. After that, I was so terrified of seeing something so surreal and supernatural that I have never slept without at least 2 night lights in my room. I am strong in my faith and my heart is very compassionate for others as well as animals. I have two miniature donkeys, two horses, three dogs, one cat, 2 fish, and a Shetland pony.
I am an open book and with that comes vulnerability, however, I believe that in a cruel  world of chaos and fakeness, being real and kind to others is truly the way we should strive to be on a daily basis.

I am a native of Texas, born and raised in a small town. I graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree and from Tarleton State University in 2019 with a Master's in English and Curriculum. I currently am a full time teacher, mother, and wife.

God has put writing on my heart in order to inspire and encourage others that are currently or have experienced similar tribulations in life. My hope is that my stories will give others hope and comfort through the trials they face throughout their lives.

My first story, Lonely Road of Faith, is inspired by real-life events and me and my husband's broken paths that eventually led back to each other and to God.

  3. Awesome cover! Like the colors & the pics. Sounds like it's going to start out a bit sad/lonely, but I believe they'll do all right in the end.
