Holiday Hearts

By Caroline Clemmons

Laura Jordan plans a quiet holiday at home except for the time she serves dinner at the homeless shelter on Christmas Day. She loves her job at Callahan Group advertising agency and doesn’t want anything to jeopardize her position there. She’s aware of how quickly office gossip could ruin her reputation and career.

Ward Callahan is a wunderkind who started earning money online trading when he was in high school. At thirty-two, he owns a successful ad agency and is gaining industry recognition. He hasn’t had time for a relationship. When Laura starts working for him, he can’t get her off his mind.

When vicious remarks cause Laura to threaten a halt to their budding relationship, Ward is determined to set things right.

Read an Excerpt:

The tree farm sleigh had only one wide seat so all four of them crowded in together. Laura didn’t mind because Ward put his arm around her to save room. Vince did the same to Helen. Jim handed them a thick red blanket to spread over their laps and legs.

The snow continued in large flakes, collecting on the trees and creating a magical fairyland of white. The jingle of harness bells added a jolly sense of holiday cheer. This was the happiest she’d felt about Christmas since her parents had died.

She turned and adjusted Ward’s knit cap. “You’re supposed to pull the cap to cover your ears so you don’t get an earache or frostbite.”

“They’re my ears so don’t worry about them.”

She snuggled back against him. “We can’t have you getting sick. You’re the glue that holds your empire together. Sure Vince helps, but we depend on you.”

“You’re saying there’s nothing personal in your concern but it’s only business, is that right?”

“I didn’t say, did? Guess you’ll have to figure that one out for yourself.”

He whispered for her ears only. “I’m hoping it’s personal.”

Jim pulled the reins and stopped the sleigh. “Here we are folks, seven foot blue spruce section. Let me know which one you want.”

About the Author:

Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To compensate for this illogical error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains in a tiny office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued pets: a dog and two indoor cats.

The over sixty titles she has created in her pink cave have made her a bestselling author and won several awards. She writes sweet to sensual romances about the West, both historical and contemporary as well as time travel and mystery. When she’s not writing, she loves spending time with her family, reading her friends’ books, lunching with friends, browsing antique malls, checking Facebook, and taking the occasional nap.
