Emily Garland is getting married and looking for the perfect forever home. When the old, and some say haunted, Hadley house comes up for sale, she’s convinced it’s “the one.” The house is also perfect for reality TV star Miles Pemberton and his new series, House Haunters. Emily will fight for her dream home, but Pemberton’s pockets are deeper than Emily’s, and he’ll stretch the rules to get what he wants.

While Pemberton racks up enemies all around Lount’s Landing, Arabella Carpenter, Emily’s partner at the Glass Dolphin antiques shop, has been hired to appraise the contents of the estate, along with her ex-husband, Levon. Could the feuding beneficiaries decide there’s a conflict of interest? Could Pemberton?

Things get even more complicated when Arabella and Levon discover another will hidden inside the house, and with it, a decades-old secret. Can the property stay on the market? And if so, who will make the winning offer: Emily or Miles Pemberton?

Read an Excerpt

Arabella watched as Levon hopped out of the truck and shambled up to the porch of the old Hadley house. Was she crazy to think she could do this appraisal with her ex-husband? Faye Everett, the woman who’d hired them, had made it sound like such a good idea. Now, Arabella wasn’t quite so sure. He had a few more gray streaks in his shaggy brown hair, and he’d grown a beard since the last time she saw him, but he was dressed in his usual head-to-toe denim, the blue bringing out the indigo of his eyes. And, he looked good. Better than good.

From the infatuated look on Faye’s face, Arabella wasn’t the only one who found Levon attractive. It annoyed her that she was a little bit jealous. Which was ridiculous. Her romantic relationship with Levon was done, done, and done again.

Wasn’t it?

Of course it was, and no amount of cognac was going to change things this time. But that didn’t mean they couldn’t work together, maybe even become platonic friends again. She walked around the carrying case that held her equipment, summoned up a smile, and held out her hand. “Levon, it’s been too long.”

Levon ignored her hand and gave her a hug, murmuring into her ear. “Your choice, not mine, Bella baby. By the way, you look amazing.”

Arabella pulled away, her face flushed. Faye was studying them both, an impish grin on her face.

“You two really do go a ways back, don’t you?”

“We used to be married, but don’t worry, working together won’t be a problem,” Levon said. “We still like each other.”

Faye’s grin widened. “So it would seem. Come on then, let’s get inside. It’s time to get started.”
