His skills can keep her safe

Her secrets could get them killed…

Security expert Ryan West’s worst fears come to life when hotel CEO Nadia Shelton is pushed in front of a taxi and nearly killed. Someone will do whatever it takes to find the brother Nadia thought was dead, and the only way Ryan can protect her as they uncover the truth is to stay strictly professional. But the sparks igniting between them are nearly impossible to ignore.

From Harlequin Intrigue: Seek thrills. Solve crimes. Justice served.

A message from Nadia Shelton

One of the things I’m most looking forward to in the new year is getting back into traveling. As the owner of a smallish hotel, it is always a treat to stay at other hotels and see how the bigger fish do things. Although it’s not safe to travel just yet, it’s always a good time to take a trip to your favorite fictional hotels. Here are some of mine, and as you know, I am somewhat of an expert at this so I know your stay within the pages of these hotels will leave you wishing you could really visit.

The Shining by Stephen King

Maybe one of the most famous hotels, Stephen King’s Overlook Hotel is a sprawling majestic structure with a stunning view of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. And it’s family friendly. Kids will spend hours attempting to conquer the life size maze and wondering the extensive grounds. On the surface The Overlook appears to be the perfect place for a long weekend get away. Of course you’ll want to stay out of the way of the property’s caretaker. And don’t stay too long, the hotel seems to make some people go a little mad.

Psycho by Robert Bloch

The Bates Motel is an example of the saying “you get what you pay for”. The room rate may fit into your budget but chances are good you won’t leave alive. I’d seen Alfred Hitchcock’s movie several times before I learned that the movie was based on a book of the same name by Robert Bloch. I wouldn’t have thought it possible but The Bates Motel is even creepier on the page. While the motel is, thankfully, not real, Universal Studios has reconstructed the movie version of the Bates Motel and it can be visited on their tour.

Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson

I could so identify with Scarlett! Growing up in a hotel is unusual to say the least. And the Hopewell is in New York just like Shelton hotels. Scarlett’s life at the Hopewell takes an interesting turn when she turns fifteen. I won’t spoil it for you but if you’re looking for Manhattan glamour, romance, and a dash of mystery make sure you get a room at the Hopewell.

Eloise by Kay Thompson

Okay, so The Plaza isn’t a fictional hotel but there was no way I could leave this one off the list. The book is a classic and so is The Plaza. Whether you’re young or just young at heart, Eloise’s adventures and antics make for a fun read. (Although, I do not suggest you try them in real life!)

What’s your favorite fictional hotel? Let me know in the comments. And if you’re looking for a place to stay in Manhattan check out Shelton Hotels. Just ask for Nadia.
