Dark Energy: Return to Becker Circle

by Addison Brae

Romantic Suspense/New Adult

I had just started over with a new career, boyfriend, and confidence after escaping a vicious murder investigation. When Pinkie’s arrest leaves me struggling to run his two bars, I vow not to let my mentor and friend go down for something he didn’t do. Now I’m forced to trust the cops, people who hurt me, and known criminals, but will it be enough to free Pinkie and save my life?

Excerpt:

Thinking about Pinkie reminds me of how Jon explains the Dark Energy lyrics. Jon says the song symbolizes me as the dark matter that draws people to one another. It’s similar to the way gravity pulls planets, stars, suns, and other matter together in the cosmos.

Pinkie is the dark matter in my world. He’s the one who connects ideas and creates bonds. He shapes the environment for the better. We both resist dark energy, the empty space that opposes dark matter and slips into the voids of our lives to disrupt. It’s like real dark energy lurks in the cosmos trying to destroy our universe.

The crew’s so on top of things I don’t need Pinkie to do actual work. And I’ve gotten so used to juggling both bars and making decisions I don’t need his validation like before. When he’s around, I’m happier and more confident. Pinkie’s kind spirit—his karma—makes wherever he is a better place. My dark matter.

Dark Energy lyrics

Shadows always lurk into the voids.

The great destroyer follows me.

A powerful force

Rips apart my universe

As I want it to be.

Dreams they shatter across the sky

Like shooting stars flying by.

Give it up. Throw it away.

One less win. Another day.

In this dark energy.

Find someone else to conquer.

What does it mean this dark energy?

Dark energy won’t control my fate.

Why do I deserve this dark energy?

I create my own history.

Don’t push this, this on me.

Tipping the balance

Shed some light and set it free

This dark energy.

Find someone else to conquer.

What does it mean this dark energy?

Dark energy won’t control my fate.

I do not deserve this dark energy.
