In the new Merry Muffin Mystery, baker Merry Wynter must solve a disturbing crime among opera singers before the culprit decides it’s curtains for her . . .

When a reality TV show for aspiring opera singers descends on Wynter Castle, Merry’s got her hands full catering to the endless demands of the distinguished judges and ambitious contestants. Then mysterious rumors about the cast and crew begin to surface, suggesting that some of their performances may be filled with false notes. When a dogged reporter with an eye for scandal who’s been covering the competition is attacked and left for dead, Merry’s determined to discover who orchestrated the heinous deed.

Her long list of suspects is filled with eccentric personalities, including a promiscuous tenor known for making unwanted overtures, a pampered young prodigy and her meddlesome mother, and a quiet up-and-comer whose shadowy uncle may have ties to the underworld. As the musical contest and Merry’s investigation near their finale, she’ll have to act fast to keep a conniving contestant from plotting out her final act . . .

Merry Wynter; How Did I Get Here?

My mother loved Beatles and so, when looking at my life in the last three years I think of the title Long and Winding Road. That is what it has been for me, a Long and Winding (and twisty and turny and amazing) Road.

How did a New York girl, a one-time plus size model turned fashion stylist turned jetsetting wife, end up living in an eighteenth/nineteenth century American castle outside of a small town in Western New York State? I’ll tell you the capsule story, my fairy tale.

Once upon a time there was a little girl growing up in New York. She loved her grandmother, fought with her mother and partied too hard. When her grandmother and then her mother died within six months of each other, she dropped out of college, got a job in fashion, started working as a plus size model, found it too hard to keep booking jobs and so switched to more steady work as a stylist, met a handsome Spanish photographer named Miguel Paradiso, married him, then lost him in a tragic car accident just two years later.

That was my life, in short. Then came eight years of mind numbing grief. Supported by the love of friends I made it through. One day I got this weird message from a law firm in some tiny town in Western New York state; I had a great uncle who had died leaving me property. A real estate agent by the name of Jack McGill got in touch with me and asked me what I wanted to do with it. He urged me to come see it.

But me? I was in the middle of a huge imbroglio involving my employer at the time, supermodel Leatrice Pugeot, and I had no time or heart for anything else. I told him to sell it. He said that might be a little difficult. Finally, six months later, facing prosecution for a fake jewel theft, (it never happened) I gave up my apartment, packed a rental car and left the city, driving straight to Wynter Castle.

McGill wasn’t kidding when  he said there was a problem selling the place; there were holes dug all over the property – and by the way, my ‘property’ was a stunning old American castle with a couple dozen shabby, decrepit rooms – and at one point I found a body at the bottom of one of those holes. Over the months I made friends in Autumn Vale, had New York friends move in with me, started fixing the place up with the intent to sell and…

Discovered I was right where I needed to be. I wouldn’t sell. It was my family, my home, my legacy. And here we are three years later. I’m married and happy, and with such plans! If it wasn’t for all the murders that keep happening I’d be perfectly happy.

How did you get where YOU are?

 About Victoria Hamilton

Victoria Hamilton is the bestselling author of several mystery series including the national bestselling Vintage Kitchen Mysteries and Merry Muffin Mysteries. She does, indeed, collect vintage kitchenware and bake muffins. She drinks tea and coffee on writing days, and wine other times. It doesn’t do to confuse days. She crochets (a little), paints (a little) and reads (a lot). A solitary being, she can be coaxed out of her writing cave for brownies and cat videos.

She started her writing life as Donna Lea Simpson, bestselling author of Regency Romances, paranormal historicals and historical mysteries, and still has a soft spot for the Regency period.

If you Google ‘Victoria Hamilton’, you will find listed first a famous actress who starred as the Queen Mother in the series The Crown and as Charlotte Brontë in ‘In Search of the Brontës’. That’s not the Victoria who writes mysteries.

No, really, it’s not!

You can find her buried in a good book, (entombed in a good tome?) or online at:
