Q&A With the Author

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

When writing Sounds Like Love, one of the things I enjoyed most was taking myself into another place and getting to know the characters. I enjoyed stepping away from my life and into the life of Wendy and Hawkie the cat. I enjoyed visualizing the scenes as though I was living them.

Do you have any other books you are working on that you can tell us about?

Yes, I have written another book which I am currently editing. It is a much longer yarn and set in the year 1864. It follows a female protagonist as she navigates great and otherworldly challenges.

Can you tell us about what you have planned for the future?

I have lots of writing and travelling planned for the future. I’m looking forward to working on a YA trilogy that I have planned.

I also intend to complete a number of public-access habitat gardens for Monarch Butterflies and other pollinators.

How long have you been writing?

Since I could write really. As a very young child, I used to write poems on Post-it notes and leave them for my Dad. We would play around with rhymes together and make up funny stories. I would write in my rickety children’s handwriting and would often draw little illustrations to go with the poems or short stories.

Anything more you would like to say to your readers and fans?

I’m looking forward to taking you on a journey that is fantastical in my next novel. It’s quite an involved historical fantasy mystery! I’m looking forward to the journey with you and introducing you to a new world full of possibility and wonder. Yes, it contains felines — and a whole world of their own language that bridges borders between human and feline. I wish I could tell you more! I’m looking forward to going on a journey into this new world with you!
