Cathy Carter knew that returning to college would be tough, but she never expected it would involve finding her anthropology professor’s dead body.

There are no shortages of suspects in Dr. Bodkin’s murder. Besides his three ex-wives and estranged son and daughter, there are also the members of the Talking Parrots Club, a group of four parrot enthusiasts, of which he was the president and founder.

As Cathy delves into Bodkin’s murder, she discovers a relationship between her teacher and the Mennonite family from whom she purchased the farmland for her new pet rescue center. She and her friend Nancy, now employed at a detective agency, work together to help Detective Hunt and Sheriff Miller solve the crime.

Q&A With the Author

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

I always like to learn interesting facts, so I enjoyed my research of parrots, Mennonites, and the 1970’s. These were topics I didn’t know much about, except for the 1970’s that I lived through when I was young, so I needed a refresher about the music, celebrities, and culture of that time.

Do you have any other books you are working on that you can tell us about?

I put aside a time-travel book, The Memory Stone, that I’ve completed but need to revise. This is not my first time-travel novel. I recently received an award for Time’s Relative from the Cat Writers’ Association. This new book is different. It doesn’t feature cats except in minor roles but will appeal to older women who reflect on their life’s choices and wonder what would happen if they could go back and change them.

Can you tell us about what you have planned for the future?

How much time do you have? I have a list of books I want to write. Some are already started. I also hope to find a literary agent to represent me. I’ll have more time to accomplish those goals because I’m retiring at the end of December.

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing since I was in college. I was an editor on my student newspaper. After that, I wrote articles for pet magazines and published a short story in a mystery anthology. My first novel, Cloudy Rainbow, a paranormal romance, was self-published in 2007 and republished by one of my current publishers in 2017. I started writing cozy mysteries in 2015. My Cobble Cove series now consists of six books, the latest is a short story collection, “Sneaky’s Supernatural Mystery and Other Cobble Cove stories.” My Buttercup Bend series kicked off with The Case of the Cat Crazy Lady in 2021 and The Case of the Parrot Loving Professor was published in October 2022.

Anything more you would like to say to your readers and fans?"

I want to thank them for their support. I appreciate all reviews on social media, blogs, Amazon, and Goodreads. My Buttercup Bend series and many of my other books can also be ordered from bookstores and purchased by libraries when requested. I would love for my work to be shared this way by recommendations and word-of-mouth.

Wait! Stop! Are you leaving the same old comment on all the blog pages? Try switching things up a bit. I love reading your comments, but if its the same thing each time... it feels like spam. And NO ONE likes spam...
