Q&A With the Author

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

I had a lot of fun with the characters in this book. Peanut and Sam are two of my favorites.

With Camel Conundrum, I also took a bit of a creative risk. I wrote Charleston Conundrum from the main character, Liz Adams’ point of view. In Carmel Conundrum, I alternate between Liz’s point of view and the third person point of view. For me, it was the only way I knew how to incorporate the details about Apollo, the cult leader, and his compound. I was worried that switching back and forth might annoy the reader, but so far, the feedback has been very positive.

Do you have any other books you are working on that you can tell us about?

Yes, currently working on Cayman Conundrum, the third book in the series. I’d like to tell you more, but I’m afraid I might reveal too much about the ending of Carmel.

Can you tell us about what you have planned for the future?

Colorado Conundrum will follow Cayman Conundrum. I have rough outlines for both stories, and I’ve started writing Cayman. Ideas are percolating around how the series will evolve. One day I hope to publish some children’s stories that have been years in the making. Samples are on my website: www.storystacy.com (illustrator inquiries are welcome).

How long have you been writing?

I’ve always been an avid reader. While doing some early spring-cleaning (I live in Texas), I discovered my baby book. I guess I’ve always been a storyteller too (according to my mom)! I didn’t actively start writing until about twenty years ago. Charleston Conundrum was fifteen years in the making. Carmel Conundrum only took nine months. Honing and developing my writing skills has been a lot of fun.

Anything more you would like to say to your readers and fans?

I love to hear from readers, and I absolutely love interacting with book clubs. If you have writing aspirations, I’m happy to pass along what I’ve learned. I’ve found the author community to be very supportive, and I hope to pay it forward.
