The Prayer Warrior

The Prayer Warrior

by Traci Wooden-Carlisle and D. Tina Batten

GENRE:   Speculative fiction

There is a thin line between the natural and the spiritual realm.
Ms. V., a humble servant of the Lord, has been placed on assignment at Center of Hope Christian Academy.

By day, she serves as a trusted counselor for students, giving them a safe haven to pour out their innermost feelings while providing professional and honest truth wrapped in a firm kindness and love that inevitably draws them closer to Jesus. Not to be outdone, the faculty also bends her ear from time to time.

By night, Ms. V. enters the spiritual realm and takes her place on the battlefield as one of God’s faithful prayer warriors. She wields her whispering sword, slicing through the enemy’s plans to bind the precious hearts under her charge.
Her assignment’s burden on her physical body is taxing, but can she withstand the strain and remain victorious?
Saving souls is her true mission, but at what cost?

Readers are in for a journey of spiritual intrigue and biblical insight as they experience the ramifications of each character’s life-altering decision.

Enjoy an Excerpt:

“You’ve been talking about your relationship with Kevin, and I understand your struggle, but what have you been talking to Jesus about lately?”

Porch bit her lower lip for a moment, a sign Ms. V. had come to understand as Porcha’s way of considering whether or not to exaggerate the truth.

“I can’t help you if you don’t tell me the truth.” Ms. V. reminded her softly.

Porcha let out a deep breath.

“I haven’t really been talking to Jesus. I mean. I say my prayers in the morning and before I go to sleep, but He’s gone quiet. I don’t hear Him like I used to.” Porcha’s sniffles turned back into sobs.

“Sshh, honey calm down. Why does this make you cry so hard?”

“I think He’s left me. It used to be so easy to talk to Him.”

“Ahh. No. God has promised never to leave us nor forsake us, and He has yet to break any of His promises. I am absolutely sure He wouldn’t begin with you, especially if you’ve been wanting to talk to Him.”

“Then why can’t I hear Him?” Porcha asked in a near whine.

Q&A With the Authors:

What was your inspiration for writing this book?

D. TINA BATTEN

As a visual storyteller in the faith-based genre, my inspiration comes from the Lord. I’m a dreamer and receive a lot of ideas, stories and inspiration while I’m sleeping in my dreams. That is when I received the concept for this story of The Prayer Warrior. Then, together with sister Traci, we developed the story together.

TRACI WOODEN-CARLISLE

My co-author and I wanted to write about what we know. Spiritual warfare. Though this is a work of fiction both of us have years of experience as intercessors and have witnessed the supernatural power that the Holy Spirit moves with in battles. Though the battles in this book are of a dramatic depiction of what we have sometimes seen in the spiritual realm the war is the same. The battle for souls is real.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

D. TINA BATTEN

I enjoyed writing this book with my long-time dear friend and sister in the gospel Traci. It was such a joy working with her. After over 20 years of friendship, who would have known? Not us. It was truly ordained by the Lord and I believe that to my core.

TRACI WOODEN-CARLISLE

I love creating characters that are as real as you best friend. I love creating quirky characters with enough courage to always say what they feel but most of all I love when characters shape themselves even as the story is evolving. This is what I love most about this book.

Do you have any other books you are working on that you can tell us about?

D. TINA BATTEN

I can see a graphic novel in the near future ;-)

TRACI WOODEN-CARLISLE

I am currently working on the next segment of my series Promises to Zion, a Christian women’s saga that has spanned decades.

Can you tell us about what you have planned for the future?

D. TINA BATTEN

Shhh! Traci and I are talking about writing another book in the series.

Anything more you would like to say to your readers and fans?

D. TINA BATTEN

I would like the readers to know that when my Traci and I wrote this book, we truly kept the readers in mind. We constantly looked at their point of view when writing the book. Our prayer is that they love the book and enjoy the journey of Ms. V.

Imagination is a gift that will take you anywhere and allow you to revisit the places you love so go the places you want to. Not the places you don’t want to.
