Thirty-nine-year-old Rosi Laruee—named Rosisophia Doroche after her mother’s beloved Golden Girls—decides that the end of her twenty-year marriage and her dad’s impending knee replacement surgery are all the excuses she needs to visit Tucson Valley Retirement Community. But the drama follows Rosi when she finds the body of local tart and business owner, Salem Mansfield. The information she discovers using her newspaper reporter sleuthing skills coupled with the clues she picks up from lackluster Police Officer Dan Daniel lead to a surprise discovery when the murderer is revealed. Along the way, she meets a cast of characters in her parents’ social circle who leave her questioning her parents’ choices in friends while simultaneously befriending many of the residents, including a handsome landscaper and a brand-new Golden Retriever puppy she names Barley. Rosi’s visit to Tucson Valley proves more than she’d bargained for, but maybe, she realizes, it’s just the kind of change she needs.

Laugh out loud with Rosi, and be prepared to get the happy feels along the way!

Q&A With the Author:  Marcy Blesy

What was your inspiration for writing this book? I grew up watching The Golden Girls and Murder She Wrote. I have always loved a good “who done it” mystery that entertains and makes me laugh, and meshing these two favorites with an amateur sleuth who is named after The Golden Girls (by her mother) seemed like a great jumping off point. Rosisophia Doroche Laruee (Rosi, for short)

And the setting at a retirement community in the fictional Arizona town of Tucson Valley was inspired by a couple of amazing visits with my snowbird aunts and uncles in a community south of Arizona. I was drawn into their world with their friends when I was there, and I loved it!

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?  I love the quirky characters who I have created. I have always enjoyed talking with people who are older than me. I think they have a lot of wisdom to offer, but sometimes personalities are firmly set by a certain age which makes for some craziness and attitudes to explore in my characters.

Do you have any other books you are working on that you can tell us about? Books 1-4 are out now in the Tucson Valley Retirement Community Cozy Mystery Series:

Dying to Go (Nothing to Gush About)

Dying for Wine (Seeing Red)

Dying for Dirt (All Soaped Up)

Dying to Build (Nailed It)

Book 5 comes out in April!  Dying to Dance (Cha-Cha-Ahh) with more to come!

Can you tell us about what you have planned for the future? I don’t have an end date in mind for The Tucson Valley Retirement Community Cozy Mystery Series, but I do have a paranormal cozy mystery series I will be starting by the end of 2024.

Anything more you would like to say to your readers and fans? I truly appreciate the support and kindness of the cozy mystery community. People are so nice and supportive. I love for my books to give my readers an entertaining break from life for a few hours when they can laugh and smile while trying to solve another mystery in Tucson Valley!
