Q&A With the Author:

What was your inspiration for writing this book?

I love a cozy mystery! I spent a couple of years writing children’s books which I loved, but I wanted to try writing something for an older audience. I found anchoring my book to a mystery gave me a fun premise to then imagine and create all the other aspects of the book, from characters to settings to twists and turns.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

Writing this book was a fun escape into my imagination and the town of Gilman. I really love the characters I created and it was fun to have time each day to spend with them and see what they were going to do next. I also set the book in the fall, my favorite time of year. So, it was also fun to get to visit that season in my writing, regardless of the weather outside my window (which, living in the Seattle area is usually rain!)

Do you have any other books you are working on that you can tell us about?

There are two other books in the Gilman Gazette Cozy Mystery Series, Secrets and Sweets and Secrets and Sunsets. Secrets and Sweets has a bigger focus on a fan favorite character, Bryce Peacock. And Secrets and Sunsets introduces a few new characters that were really fun to write.

Can you tell us about what you have planned for the future?

I am thinking I will likely write at least one more book in the Gilman Gazette Cozy Mystery Series. I have a few ideas I’m sorting through. I also have a rom-com novel I wrote a while ago I may re-imagine into a cozy mystery.

Anything more you would like to say to your readers and fans?

I hope that readers find a bit of romance, a dose of humor and a lot of cozy mystery in Secrets and Scandals. And a heartfelt thank you to anyone who reads any of my books!
