Special Guest: Syda Gonzales - The Glass House by Nancy Lynn Jarvis

My best friend, Pat Pirard, is out there detecting today so I’m filling in for her. I’m Syda Gonzales, by the way. You may want to remember my name because you’re all readers and I’ll probably be a famous writer someday, now that I’ve given up on my other artistic endeavors and decided to play Watson to Pat’s Sherlock.

Pat was Santa Cruz County’s Law Librarian until she was abruptly downsized. She was pretty upset about that because she loved her job. I’d find what she did, researching details for the legal community, pretty boring, but then I’m not Pat.

She also was upset for too long after her boyfriend Rick dumped her. I thought he was a loser and she was better off without him. I tried to fix her up with a number of unattached men, but she didn’t like any of my suggestions. Pat’s like that. She thinks she knows what’s good for her better than I do. She’s wrong, of course, because I’m highly sensitive and perceptive and do know what’s best for her.

I hadn’t yet discovered what a great writer I was when Pat got downsized. At the time, I thought perhaps glass was going to be my medium and had registered for a glass forming class taught by the famous Garryn Monteith. I pulled a few strings and gotPat into the sold-out class, as well. You’ll never believe what happened in class: our instructor was murdered!

That’s why Pat is out detecting today. She was hired by an attorney she knew to help prepare a defense for the man wrongly accused of Garryn Monteith’s murder. She started her own private investigation company, PIP Inc., which stands for Private Investigator Pat―isn’t that cute―and is hard at work. She’s going to be good at her new career. She figured out how the murder was committed and figured out how to work the case right away―with a little help from me―and when she solves the crime, I’m going to write about it.

Syda Gonzales. Remember that name.

About Nancy Lynn Jarvis

Nancy Lynn Jarvis was a Santa Cruz, California, Realtor® for more than twenty years before she fell in love with writing and let her license lapse.
After earning a BA in behavioral science from San Jose State University, she worked in the advertising department of the San Jose Mercury News. A move to Santa Cruz meant a new job as a librarian and later a stint as the business manager for Shakespeare/Santa Cruz at UCSC.
Nancy’s work history reflects her philosophy: people should try something radically different every few years, a philosophy she applies to her writing, as well. She has written seven Regan McHenry Real Estate Mysteries; a stand-alone novel “Mags and the AARP Gang” about a group of octogenarian bank robbers; edited “Cozy Food: 128 Cozy Mystery Writers Share Their Favorite Recipes” and a short story anthology, “Santa Cruz Weird;” and even done a little insider’s book, “The Truth About Hosting Airbnb” about her first year as a host.
“The Glass House” is the first book in a planned series of PIP Inc. Mysteries. Now she’s trying to figure out when to work on another series she’d love to do called “Geezers with Tools” about two older handymen who will solve mysteries in the course of doing their work, and setting up writer retreats at her house.
