While visiting the land of Miss Marple and Sherlock Holmes, bookstore owner and amateur sleuth Samantha Washington finds herself on a tragical mystery tour . . .

Sam joins Nana Jo and her Shady Acres Retirement Village friends Irma, Dorothy, and Ruby Mae on a weeklong trip to London, England, to experience the Peabody Mystery Lovers Tour. The chance to see the sights and walk the streets that inspired Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle is a dream come true for Sam—and a perfect way to celebrate her new publishing contract as a mystery author.

But between visits to Jack the Ripper’s Whitechapel district and 221B Baker Street, Major Horace Peabody is found dead, supposedly of natural causes. Despite his employer’s unfortunate demise, the tour guide insists on keeping calm and carrying on—until another tourist on their trip also dies under mysterious circumstances. Now it’s up to Sam and the Shady Acres ladies to mix and mingle among their fellow mystery lovers, find a motive, and turn up a murderer . . .

Meet Samantha Washington

My name is Samantha Renee Washington, although most people call me Sam. I’m in my thirties and five feet four with dark hair and eyes and I’d describe myself as pleasantly plump. I live in North Harbor, Michigan which is located on the shores of Lake Michigan. I used to be a high school English teacher, but that changed a few years ago. You see, my late husband, Leon and I always dreamed that one day (when our ship came in) we’d quit our jobs and open a mystery bookshop. Leon’s sudden death, made me realize that life is too short to wait to follow your dreams. So, sold our house, quit my job, and bought the building we’d always dreamed would house our bookshop. It was scary to give up the security of a regular paycheck to pursue a dream, but I did it. And, thanks to help from my friends, and family (especially my grandmother, Nana Jo), I’ve been able to live my dream.

Opening a mystery bookshop was a dream that Leon and I both shared, but I had another dream. I dreamed of writing British historic mysteries. After Leon died, I started writing. It was a good distraction and filled the lonely nights. Writing was a secret dream that I only shared with my closest family members, but one day, when a man that I loathed was found murdered behind my bookshop, my secret got out. However, despite an incompetent police detective, intent on charging me with the murder, I was able to put my years of reading mysteries to good use to figure out whodunit. Since then, I’ve figured out a number of mysteries, and written several books. Thanks to Nana Jo, I even have an agent who thinks she can sell my books. Lately, I’ve even discovered that there just might be room in my heart for love.

It’s been a tough couple of years, and I’ve decided that a vacation is in order, so I’m headed to England on a Mystery Lovers Tour. I can research my next book and enjoy time with my grandmother and her friends from the retirement village.  I’m especially excited to get a chance to visit the home of the Queen of Crime Fiction, Agatha Christie. A week touring the English countryside, what could possibly go wrong?
