Q&A With The Author
When did you first consider yourself to be a writer?

I always created stories, even just in my head. I composed my first poem at age 3. But when I was 8, my second grade teacher explained to me how I could put my ideas into words, and ever since, I considered myself a writer and strove to become published. It took me 13 years, but I did it!

What advice do you have for a new writer?
You know all those classes and books and seminars and cons everyone tells you to get/attend? STOP obsessing over them. Pause. Look at your favorite books in your genre. Read them with a critical eye. And then write YOUR story. Let the words free-flow from your heart onto the page like blood. And keep doing that, over and over until you improve.

What is the easiest part of the writing process for you?

Plot twists! I love writing them. I pants my books, so when a plot twist hits me, I feel sort of like the reader will as I write it. It is as much of a surprise to me as it is to everyone else.

What is your favorite part of this story?

In Daunting Darkness, my favorite part is the big reveal that Vera has for Paige, when Paige discovers the paranormal world is real. It was actually the first scene I wrote for the entire series.

Which Character was the most fun to write about? Why?

I want to say Paige, since this is her series, but for me she was so much LIKE me that it wasn’t as much fun as it was a breath of fresh air. My characters are never much like me. The most fun has been Vera so far. She’s one of Paige’s mentors, and she’s a mystery hiding a big secret. Writing her was fun, because I realized I didn’t know her as well as I thought.

Which Character was the hardest to write about? Why?

Zeke, the police officer who winds up helping Paige and becoming a friend (and maybe more??). I didn’t know him or his personality well, and so I was apprehensive about writing him. But he wound up becoming clearer and clearer. So I can’t wait for book 3, Werewolf Worries, when I get to write more from his POV!
