Another who-dunnit featuring one of your favorite Senior sleuths as well as an exciting new installment of The Mystery Book Nook Shared World.

Gladys is head over heels excited for the new community garden project. In fact, she’s created a whole new event: the Community Garden Plant Potluck. The plant potluck is more popular than even she imagined until one of the community garden members is found toes up in the tulips, dead as can be.

Gladys won’t rest until the killer is planted in a jail cell and the Community Garden project is free to grow again. But when clues don’t make sense, she might have to do a little out-of-the-box research using an interesting new resource, The Mystery Book Nook Forum, online.

Don’t miss this fun new adventure with some favorite characters!

About Katherine H. Brown

Katherine Brown is a wife, mom, Texas author, and unreformed bookaholic. From childhood, Katherine has devoured books for fun, for escape, for inspiration. As an author, it is Katherine’s goal to provide that same fun escape for others and encourage a love of reading in any age group. Clean cozy mysteries with sass and good Southern manners are her specialty, though recently Katherine has taken the jump into the steampunk world with a fun twist on Mary Poppins inspired characters. When not writing, Katherine enjoys weekly trips to the library with her toddler, teaching yoga workouts, and spending time with family.

Q&A With the Author:

What was your inspiration for writing this book?
My senior sleuth Gladys needed a new hobby (gardening) but of course she wouldn’t be such a great character if she wasn’t knee deep in a mystery. For this book, I had a little extra inspiration when I was asked to join with a wonderful group of authors for a shared world writing project. Bringing Gladys into the technology world with The Mystery Book Nook Online Forum got me brainstorming ways she would use the forum and accidentally get in trouble.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
In one part of this book, Gladys really needed a disguise when the police were getting a little bit too close. Imagining the disguise and then putting an image to go with what I’d pictured was one of my favorite things and I actually couldn’t believe I managed to cobble together exactly what I had in mind when using clipart to bring the disguise to life.

Do you have any other books you are working on that you can tell us about?

I have a third book in a steampunk mystery series coming out in November that I need to work a little faster on! It is called The Quill & Key Society.

I also plan to write another book for Gladys, as well as a second historical cozy mystery for my Annabeth Watson character series.

Basically, I have my hands full!

Can you tell us about what you have planned for the future?

I hope to continue the Gladys series as well as begin a fun new travel mystery series BUT I also have a cute idea for a romcom that my teenage daughter is encouraging me to write (because that is her favorite genre of course). It will be set in Georgia with some beautiful fall colors and vibes.

Anything more you would like to say to your readers and fans?

I would definitely like to tell them all THANK YOU. Thank you if you read my first series (Ooey Gooey Bakery Mysteries) and stuck with me as I figured out finding editors, etc. Thank you if you’ve never read my books but are willing to give them a chance. Thank you for encouraging me, laughing with my characters, commenting and leaving reviews or letting me know which series are your favorites. Those things all literally make my day!!

  1. I have visited community gardens three times so far this year and like books that involve growing your own food and gardening. Working with soil is so down-to-earth.
